What We Do

The Asha Project is a family of projects that all work together to instill hope in the people of Nepal.

HOMES OF HOPE

Providing the help, resources, and guidance that Nepali-led organizations require to build homes for those in need and restore hope.

While in Nepal, the team realized that the situation is ever changing and from half-way around the world, there is only so much that we can do. While our original goal was to build 1,000 houses, there was a part of us that hoped that we would physically build each of these houses. This is untimely in helping the people who need it most. It is apparent to us that we can do so much more good in providing the help, resources, and guidance in working with Nepali-led organizations already on the ground. This doesn’t mean that we don’t plan on getting our hands dirty and laying as many bricks as we can. Now that we have been to Nepal, assessed the progress, and have made the connections, we can truly start helping the rebuild Nepal.

RAYS OF HOPE

Helping increase access to education in Nepal by providing scholarships and creating educational opportunities to those in need, regardless of class or ethnicity.

Our enthusiasm for education planted the seed for the Rays of Hope program that has since given thousands of disadvantaged Nepali children the most valuable tool they can possess in the developing world: an education.100% percent of the donations are dedicated and channeled to our scholarship programs in Nepal. Currently, a scholarship fund close to $5000.00 a year is provided to various schools in Nepal. The criteria for the scholarship is that the recipients must maintain a 75% grade in their studies. These selected students are currently enrolled at various schools in Nepal.

LEGACY OF HOPE

Offering micro-credit loans to more than 1000 women to empower them with a source of income, a better standard of living, and a way to pay for their children’s education.

AshaHeader

Founded on a novel idea that education and financial support, not charity, provides the surest way out of poverty for poor families, the Rotary Clubs of Branchburg in collaboration with Homes of Hope and Friends of Nepal – New Jersey established the “Legacy of Hope – Micro Credit Project” to provide destitute women with micro-credit loans. As a result, these women have gained knowledge and source of income for themselves and their families. This partnership has helped more than 1000 women in Nepal to empower them to take control of their lives, improve their family’s standard of living and provide what every mother wants for her children — hope for a brighter future through better nutrition, health care, and, most importantly, education.
